MUSIC REVIEW | JOHN HOLLENBECK
A Big Band Reaches for Bold Sounds
“Eternal
Interlude” represents a major step forward. It’s richer, better developed and more aggressively orchestral;
its
strangeness isn’t self-conscious. It’s the sound of a composer who’s really grown into himself." -

"From Seeds" -Playscape Records (Michael Musillami Trio +3):
"...Musillami has a tone that's impossible not to love...
a potent sextet, and the guitarist's writing provides
a rich variety of settings."
All Music Guide
- Michael G. Nastos
"This
sextet is potent, equally as able to turn on a dime, ride with the wind,
or hop aboard a freight train of steaming
power and perseverance...
a marvelous new music recording of great depth and vision that retains its vibrancy upon repeated
plays...highly recommended."

"ELECTRIC
WILLIE" A Tribute to Willie Dixon
The Willie Dixon Project is a collaborative recording project with an
all-star cast produced by composer and multi-instrumentalist Elliott Sharp.
The group includes the legendary guitarists
Henry Kaiser and Glenn Phillips (of the Hampton Grease Band), the vocalists Eric Mingus
and Queen Esther, bassist Melvin
Gibbs (Power Tools) and drummer Lance Carter (reknowned for his work with Sonny Sharrock, Cassandra Wilson,
and Sharp's
Terraplane - sadly, his last work before passing from cancer.) On the recording, E# plays guitar and console steel guitar.
The group has arranged a number of Willie Dixon's classic songs and some of his less well-known ones as well.
The CD features high-powered
deep-soul vocals, raging guitars, and a behemoth rhythm section. Now, with the upcoming
release on Enja of the CD, the Willie Dixon Project
is available for concert and festival appearances with drummer
Don McKenzie (Vernon Reid's Masque).

E-sharp
- Bill Milkowski

Sharp has been conceiving experimental works
for a variety of small and large ensembles over the past 30 years...He
remains as restlessly creative as ever, continuing to churn out
provocative new projects with remarkable regularity."
